It wasn’t so long ago that 1 billion seemed like kind of a big deal. That’s so 2015.
Android has steamrolled past the high-water and is now running on 2 billion devices.
Android Army
That’s right, there are now more than 2 billion monthly active Android devices scattered around the globe.
This is by far the biggest reach of any similar computing platform. Total iPhones sales are reportedly around 1 billion.
All aboard
Android spans a vast array of services and platforms, including watches, TVs, Chromebooks, Play, and cars.
The figures are head spinning. Users installed 82 billion apps and games from Play last year, Android TV sees 1 million new device activations every month, and Android Auto has experienced a 10X user growth in the past year.
The next billion
Google is already eyeing the next billion users, with upcoming products like Android O, which offers greater integration across your devices, and Android Go, to optimise the mobile experience on phones with less than 1G of memory.
