GoPro’s new camera is similar to its predecessor, except slower in all the right ways.
Super slo-mo
Perhaps the most anticipated feature of the Hero 6 Black is its ability to capture video suitable for producing super slo-mo footage at high resolution.
You can slow down footage taken by the Hero 6 Black to one tenth its natural speed, and still get high-quality images and fluid movement on the screen.
With the right subject matter, it’ll be a good way to get attention in a Facebook feed, or to show off in Full HD on YouTube.
Other advances
Over all, the Hero 6 Black should produce slicker video and from a wider range of circumstances.
It now performs better in low-light situations and has better stabilisation features. It can also put more pixels on a screen than ever before, offering higher resolution (4K) with a super smooth look (60 fps).
What you’ll pay
At launch, the GoPro Hero 6 Black will go for US$499.
The camera is yet to formally launch for Australian retailers, but is available already online. Currently, it sits around the AU$750 price point.
Have you used or would you use a GoPro to shoot video for your social posts? What features does it have (or lack) that sway you either way?
