A new survey highlights how Australians are accessing and engaging through social media channels.
The survey, conducted by social media marketing agency Tick Yes in conjunction with online market research company Nine Rewards, reveals:

85.5% rated Facebook as their favourite social media site

57.7% rated YouTube as their favourite social media site
3
48.2% talk about new products on social media channels
4
47.3% find the medium more engaging than their friends and admit to using social media during face to face meetings
5
41.5% use smartphones to access social media (5.8% use tablets)
6
31.3% spend at least two hours a day on social media
7
31.2% use social media while commuting
8
20.2% use social media to connect with brands
9
25.1% use social media for business networking
10
4.9% said they were addicted to social media
885 people aged 18 to 70+ took part in the survey in October 2011
