Dubbed the ‘Vaughn’ update in honour of jazz singer Sarah Vaughan, WordPress 4.7 seems to target businesses that are ready to make their first move into the online environment.
Already reputed as the number one CMS for new/small business, the latest release simplifies the website creation process for web novices. The new release version also has something for more advanced WordPress users.
New easy features
4.7 is packed with new features that will streamline the building of business website, even for folks who are less than tech savvy.
The release includes:
- new customizer options to give greater control over the initial simple setup
- heaps of new starter content such as sample widgets, menus and social media icons
- non-destructive live previews of all changes
- the ability to create new pages while building site menus.
New default theme
There’s a new default theme in town—Twenty Seventeen. It boasts exceptional responsiveness and grants all the customisation options that WordPress users have come to expect. There’s a few new additions too. In a first for WordPress default themes, Twenty Seventeen includes feature video headers and built-in parallax effects.
For more advanced users
Front end designers will be happy that the theme customizer now includes lets you generate live previews of changes made to custom CSS.
Code monkeys will appreciate REST API Content Endpoints. Providing machine-readable external access to sites, it promises new possibilities for plugins and web apps.
Theme developers get new flexibility with new access to post-type template functionality.
