This time last year Twitter rolled out its Ads API program, and to celebrate its first birthday the API is getting a new name: Twitter Marketing Platform Program.
What's in a name?
The Marketing Platform formerly know at Ads API allows advertisers to conduct campaigns through Twitter partners such as Adobe and Salesforce.
Twitter announced the news in a blog post, explaining the name change reflects an extension its partnership network beyond just advertising.
“One year ago, we launched the Twitter Ads API in order to create a diverse ecosystem of partners that could enable marketers to achieve greater ROI through Twitter Ads.
“Since then, we’ve expanded this network of partners beyond advertising alone, and today we’re pleased to introduce a new name for our entire suite of partners,” wrote Tony Wang, Twitter’s VP of Global Revenue Partnerships and Development.
Birthday cake
As an extra birthday gift, the Twitter Marketing Platform Program also received a brand new website showcasing new partners like Social Code and Kinetic Social.
Connections
The update comes as Twitter looks to mature its advertising offerings, and satisfy shareholders following its recent IPO.
By extending its olive branch to new partners, Twitter might lure more advertisers away from most established networks like Facebook.
