In April this year Facebook launched App Links, a service aimed at making linking content on mobile more streamlined.
A few months down the track and App Links looks to be gaining popularity. Here's what you need to know.
Mobile direct
The interesting thing about App Links is the way it allows publishers to funnel users directly from a Facebook News Feed post to their native app. Think of it as the AdWords of mobile.
This circumvents the need for a mobile browser and in turn leads to deeper, more relevant links between Facebook and the apps in its ecosystem.
The end result is an improved user experience around push notifications, SMS and email campaigns.
Ape the app
Mobile is set to overtake desktop this year, and over half of Facebook's 1.28 billion users are mobile.
However only 25 per cent of apps currently support deep links. An even smaller number of companies have tagged their websites to further optimise these links.
Mo' money
While setting up App Links requires some developer nous, the benefits for brands can be potentially huge.
