Facebook is rolling out a trifecta of new features for video streaming, fact finding, and community building.
The big three
The new additions are Premiers, Polls, and Top Fans.
Users will soon have access to Premieres within Pages which provides creators and publishers with pre-recorded and live formats to help better stimulate online conversation and streaming.
Success stories include OWN which, according to the station, “has been innovating with Oprah Winfrey’s SuperSoul Sunday to deliver video-on-demand content as ‘Live’ moments”. And thanks to Premier, OWN has more flexibility for monetisation.
Polls and Fans
So now you have your video, how about polls? Live Polls are available for all Pages thanks to the new Live API and publishing tool, which will also soon be available for on demand video as well.
Polls have been adopted by CNN’s Anderson Cooper Full Circle and BuzzFeed BringME! to gather viewer opinions, and make decisions for show contestants.
Finally, Top Fans will soon be spotted by a handy badge which will display next to only the name of only the most loyal of loyal on a given fan page.
The new additions are sure to foster community engagement across the board. Will this be enough to bring users to Facebook for original programming? We’ll see.
What are your thoughts on the three new features? Have you noticed any of the features or been tuning into Facebook for video programing? Let us know in our comments.
