Martech Mashup: New phones endorsed by Android Enterprise

In March, we reported on ‘Android Enterprise Recommended’ branding—a Google-issued stamp of approval for business-use devices. Now, the AER list has greatly expanded.

Bigger list

The number devices on the Android Enterprise Recommended list has grown by two thirds. Now 36 phones and a tablet make the grade.

Google’s blog announcement actually mentions 39 devices. But, one mooted tablet and another new phone aren’t yet on the Android Enterprise Partner's website.

There’s new phones from existing Android Enterprise partners and nre ones from Sharp and Sonim, previously absent from the list.

What did that mean?

As at AER launch, devices needed to run Android 7.0+, have at least two gigabytes of RAM, 32GB of storage and get at least eight hours from a single charge. Also, they had to offer and maintain certain services, including access and support.

Eye for goal

The stamp seems to be serving its purpose, especially for Google, but also for enterprise users. Google’s own research says 75% of their customers think the Android Enterprise Recommended program will be important for their future device decisions.

Marketers managing an Android device brand would be well-served to go after that stamp.

Is there enough substance to this stamp of approval to let it influence your business-tech choices?
