BeautyStack combines a booking platform with a visual social network, for a beauty-themed venture that’s monetised from the outset.
Premise
Stylised as ‘beautystack’ or ‘btystk’—BeautyStack leverages Instagram-like visual appeal into a booking platform that is both user-friendly and convenient for vendors.
A social post summarised its functionality into the simple phrase: ‘See It. Like It. Book It’.
Service booking solved
As reported on Forbes, BeautyStack’s founder Sharmadean Reid MBE says she aims to solve the problem of people browsing Instagram or Pinterest for the treatments they want, copying a picture and then find someone to do it and ‘hope it works out for the best’
Instead, Reid wants to let BeautyStackers go straight to the practitioners that actually produce the looks they like online. She intends to keep it free for users, but take commissions from bookings made through the site.
Beyond beauty
BeautyStack seems more compelling than some other pseudo-social enterprises of recent times.
If it works for the beauty industry, it’s easy to imagine that similar services could spring up for other visually-appealing bookable services.
BeautyStack is currently in an ‘invitation only’ phase, though it is accepting registrations and expressions of interest.
It is slated for a wider launch in mid-2018.
What other applications can you foresee for this sort of socio-visual booking platform?
