Free Lab – 2027 AI Marketing Trends – October 2026

About SMK’s 2027 AI Marketing Trends: Search, Social, Content, Ads & More

SMK’s 2027 AI Marketing Trends session was a 🆓 FREE briefing for marketing and communications professionals looking to make sense of a year of rapid change and prepare for what comes next.

Held on Thursday, 15 October, the session reviewed some of the most important developments reshaping marketing during 2026, before looking ahead to the key themes, pressures and opportunities likely to define 2027.

From AI-driven discovery and increasingly automated advertising to tighter budgets, changing agency models, connected AI workflows and new measurement challenges, the session explored what had actually changed, what marketers had learned and where teams may need to rethink their plans for the year ahead.

Tools including Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Canva, Adobe and Descript featured throughout, alongside major developments across Google, Meta, ChatGPT, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube.

The focus was not on isolated product updates. Instead, the session examined how these tools were increasingly connecting with the wider marketing stack, including advertising platforms, social management tools, CRM systems, analytics, content libraries and internal knowledge.

The session reviewed 2026 and looked ahead to 2027, covering:

  • Why AI answers, zero-click search and fragmented discovery were making brands harder to find, even when demand remained strong
  • How Meta, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and other AI-driven recommendation systems changed social reach and content distribution during 2026, and what that means for 2027
  • Why producing more content had not automatically improved performance, and how ChatGPT, Claude, Canva, Adobe and Descript were changing the economics of copy, design, image, audio and video production
  • Why the next phase of AI adoption would be less about isolated prompts and more about connected workflows, brand intelligence, training data and human review, as Copilot, ChatGPT and Claude moved deeper into everyday work
  • How tighter budgets were forcing marketers to reassess agency spend, headcount, software licences, production costs and low-value manual work
  • Where marketing teams may need to cut costs in 2027, and where cutting too aggressively risks weakening brand, creative quality, expertise or future demand
  • How Meta Ads, Google Ads and other media platforms were taking greater control of targeting, bidding, placement, optimisation and creative, and what marketers still needed to manage themselves
  • Why traffic, clicks, reach and last-click attribution were becoming less reliable measures of marketing influence as more discovery and decision-making happened inside AI answers, feeds and closed platforms
  • How AI agents and connected assistants were starting to link tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT and Claude with platforms including Hootsuite, Canva, Adobe, Meta Ads Manager, HubSpot, Salesforce and internal knowledge systems, reshaping research, content, reporting and campaign delivery
  • What marketing leaders should be budgeting for, from AI licences and creative tooling to integrations, knowledge infrastructure, governance, training and workflow redesign, as AI moved from experimentation into the core marketing operating layer
