We Are Social has released its Digital in 2017: Global Overview report. It's packed with juicy details about all things online and social. Here are the highlights.
Half full
The internet turned 25 last year. Now half of the planet is online, and use a smartphone.
Today more than half of global internet traffic now comes from mobile phones, and there are 2.8 billion global social media users – or 37% of the planet.
Shoppers
Aside from phones and social, a lot of people really like to shop. More than one in five people have shopped online in the past 30 days.
Put another way, there are 1.61 billion e-commerce users, or 22% of the globe.
Australasia
Closer to home, the report found there are 1.4 billion active social media users in the Asia Pacific, marking a 35% penetration for the region.
Over the past year the Asia Pacific has added a respectable 1.5 billion new social media users.
