Facebook is committing tens of millions into expanding its Groups services, with more features to build communities.
Facebook getting’ communal
Facebook has introduced the Facebook Community Leadership Program to help educate users on the tools and platform as part of its community strategy.
Residency and fellowships are planned to be offered to help members fund and support their own communities and proposals can be submitted for grant opportunities.
Five leaders are expected to be chosen to receive a million dollar grant towards their chosen proposal, while 100 users will be eligible to apply for grants of up to $50,000 to bolster community initiatives.
Teaching the village
Three separate Community Leadership Circle events to place over 2017 in the US, with plans to bring their seminars to the rest of the world throughout 2018.
The Groups dashboard has also undergone analytics upgrades to help admins gain more insight into the metrics of their growing communities.
Facebook has also revealed they will be doubling the amount of engineers in its London headquarters to help detect and eliminate fake accounts, counter harassment and keep a fixed eye on community welfare.
