The balancing act continues for Pinterest as the company missed its hopeful projections but is still growing at a healthy rate.
Pinterest announced in October that it had reached 150 million monthly active users, a sizeable increase from 100 million at last count in September 2015.
?
However, the American company had previously expected to reach roughly 218 million by the end of 2016 and may not reach that number until 2018.
?
Pinterest has found success looking overseas, with international users increasing rapidly over the last year – foreigners account for 55% of all users, up from 45% in 2015.
Although Pinterest projected revenue to reach $663 million in 2016, the company will still triple its 2015 numbers when the reported $300 million figure is confirmed.
?
Advertisers haven't stopped flocking to Pinterest, and the company's next step is converting more people – including men – into regular users.
Men make up 40% of all new sign-ups, another increase on last year's numbers, but women still dominate the service, which limits the number of brands that might come on board.
