Skypes now synchs across the board

Skype has just released an update that synches its services across devices.

Call it in

Skype announced the news in a blog post, explaining the update was aimed at upping its chat services and mobile experience.

“We all know that Skype makes it easy to stay in touch with family and friends, no matter how close or far away; Skype calls from the laptop or desktop computer are an integral part of many relationships.

“But there are more ways to enjoy the versatility of Skype than sitting in front of a desk, or propping a laptop on your lap,” wrote Skype's Leanne Johnson.

Ring a ding

Now Skype users will have their chat message synched across devices, including smart phones, desktop and tablets. Notifications will also be sent across the board, so it's easier to keep up with your conversations.

Skype has also worked on tweaking its mobile app, with increased battery life and shorter start up times.

Chat heating up

The update comes as Skype faces increasing competition in the messaging arena from WeChat and Facebook Messenger.

If Skype can lure some of its 300 million users to embrace its messaging services, it may also get more traction for its recently launched Conversation Ads.
