Instagram is rolling out a handy little change in user profiles, allowing hyperlinks to generate whenever you mention another account or hashtag.
Instant links
Instagram is putting special focus on the biography section of user accounts, so promoting hashtags and users is done instantaneously rather than appearing as basic text.
Got your own hashtag to promote? No problem. Back in December, Instagram added a feature allowing users to follow hashtags in the main feed as well.
What with the predominance of hashtag culture and sharing as efficiently as possible, the feature has been readily accepted by active users.
Weblinks not yet supported
For those wanting to include a tangible link to a URL outside of their Instagram bio, they'll need to use the “website” field when tweaking their profile.
The lacking inclusion of website links isn’t terribly surprising as Instagram is encouraging users to browse within their own platform, rather than moving elsewhere to peruse other online content.
For now, the instant links are relegated to the bio section of user accounts. Coupled with the ability to follow hashtags in News Feeds, their could be some more innovation just around the corner.
Have you used the new instant linking feature? What were your thoughts? Let us know in our comments below.
