Snapchat ads have finally arrived. And boy did they make a first impression.
Freak out
History will note the first ad to roll out on Snapchat was a 20 second trailer for the soon to be released horror movie Ouija.
The clip started appearing in feeds this week, with users having the optio to play the clip.
Those that did appeared unsettled by the clip, or perhaps Snapchat's new paid model.
Here's a selection of user comments:
“HOLY FREAKING OMG OUIJA BOARD HAS A SNAPCHAT SPONSORED THING AH ITS SCARY.”
“WTF IS THIS OUIJA THING DOING ON MY SNAPCHAT IM A CHRISTIAN HELP”.
Misfire
While the trailer might have offended or confused some users, it certainly got the internet talking. Which might have been the intention all along.
Stay tuned to see how brands will start using Snapchat and its highly prized teen users to monetise.
