Things move fast in the world of social. Snapchat, the platform that allows users to share “snaps” (photos and videos) is overtaking Facebook when it comes to image sharing.
Photo finish
According to Business Insider, Spapchat users share 400 million snaps every day.
By comparison, Facebook users share 350 million photos every day, but this figure doesn't include video.
Changing of the guard?
Of course Facebook isn’t quite done and dusted when it comes to images. It owns Instagram, whose 130 million users share a tidy 55 million photos every day.
Combined with Facebook’s count, this pushes it slightly ahead of Snapchat. For now.
Momentum is everything when it comes to digital, and Snapchat has the wind in its sails. It has doubled in size since June, when Snapchat users were sharing 200 million daily photos.
In demand
Snapchat is clearly anticipating big things in the future, and reportedly turned down a US$3 billion offer acquisition offer from Facebook.
Whoever ends up on top, it’s clear photos and video are hot property when it comes to social.
