Number Crunch: Blogs

It's been a long time since the term blogger referred to the online diaries of early adopters broadcasting from isolated bedrooms.

These days blogging is big business – both for individuals and brands. So we've taken a look at some recent stats thanks to an infographic from Wishpond about why your business should consider blogging.

Interesting content is one of the top three reasons people follow brands on social media, while 78 per cent of users feel brands creating bespoke content are interested in building good relationships.

Over half (68 per cent) of consumers read content from brands they are interested in, and social media and blogs account for 23 per cent of all time spend online.

Blogs aren't just good for reaching customers, they're good for search rankings.

Blogs give websites 434 per cent more indexed pages and a whopping 97 per cent more indexed links, meaning your site will be easier to find.

B2B companies that blog generate 67 per cent more leads every month.

Social plug in

Having a blog isn't enough these days, you need a social platform to drive awareness.

Unsurprisingly, Facebook is the biggest driver of referral traffic to blogs, followed by Twitter and LinkedIn.
