The YouTube Creator Studio app has learned a couple of new tricks… and changed its name.
The name thing
‘Creators Studio’ will henceforth be known as ‘YouTube Studio’.
Why? Well, this name is more specific. The app doesn’t let you make the world in seven days, but it is a studio for creating YouTube content.
Post scheduler
As of now, the app lets creators schedule posts from their mobile device.
After recording a clip, users can set the day and time it will go live on YouTube.
At the same time, they can also select the ‘type’ that it will be posted as: ‘private’, ‘unlisted’ or ‘public’.
Subscriber count at the top
The app dashboard has been tweaked to show the total subscriber count on a prominent card.
This minor change will make it easy to report on one key metric at a glance, and probably prop up content creator egos around the globe.
Verdict?
YouTube Studio has successfully supplanted Creator Studio: it lets you schedule posts and easily see subscriber count, plus it has a name that reflects its practical specificity.
More tweaks are coming. The app will soon let users pin comments and use ‘creator hearts’ without ever accessing a desktop.
Will the new features improve the Creator experience, or are they basically PR headlines for an otherwise aesthetic refresh?
