To-Do is a new multi-platform productivity app from Microsoft that is set to supplant fan-favourite Wunderlist.
From the award-winning team…
Microsoft To-Do comes from the same team that made Wunderlist—a similar app that was acquired by Microsoft in 2015.
Prior to joining the Microsoft fold, Wunderlist cultivated a userbase of over 10 million users and gained significant acclaim. It appeared on many ‘best-app of the year’ lists, including top nods from official iTunes and Google Play stores.
To-Do is now the focus of the Wunderlist team. The old app will be phased out in its favour.
Missing in reinvention
At launch, some deeper features of the predecessor aren’t yet part of To-Do. Wunderlist fans have noted that To-Do currently lacks folders, shared lists, prioritisation options and email-to-app abilities.
Whether the full feature set will come to the new app is unknown. Microsoft might be betting that their target market will appreciate a streamlined UX more than complex functionality.
Microsoft matching
To its credit, other aspects of To-Do genuinely advance on Wunderlist’s popular feature set
Office 365 integration ties it in more tightly with the broader Microsoft suite. So far, this integration is lauded by most, although users have noted some teething issues.
Also, To-Do can be used and synched from most modern devices, with apps for each of Android, iOS and Windows.
