Gmail bumps up its data storage

Here's a small but welcome update for Gmail users: Google has doubled the size of attachments you can receive in Gmail.

Gmail now lets you receive attachments up to 50MB in size. That's double the previous 25MB limit.

Oddly, 25MB is still the maximum file size permitted for outbound attachments.

The update could save time when receiving large files, such as high-resolution images and presentations. Staying in Gmail also means you won't have to login to cloud services such as Google Drive or Dropbox to access larger files.

Just keep in mind that Google offers 15GB in free space across Gmail, G Drive, and Google+ Photos, so your inbox might clog up quickly if you start downloading with abandon.
