Facebook 360 video goes Live

Like a mad professor, Facebook has just combined two of its favourite things: 360 video and live streaming.

Virtually Live

Facebookers can now live stream using a 360 degree camera. Facebook has imaginatively called the new feature Live 360.

To go live, begin by setting your post privacy then write a description. Then you’re good to start streaming and watch the comments and reactions roll in – all from the camera’s interface.

Compatible cameras range from consumer models like the Samsung Gear 360 through to the high-end Nokia Ozu. Facebook says more camera models will be integrated with live in the coming months.

Bird’s Eye View

Along with Live 360, Facebook has also released spatial audio, a feature that gives 360 videos a more immersive sound design.

This can either be done manually (check out the Spatial Workstation Facebook Group for more info on this), while cameras with integrated support for spatial audio are coming soon.

These update could give marketers new ways to create and share content – as long as loading times don’t blow out.
