WhatsApp is trialling a new way for users to join groups and share links.
Group think
The update for WhatsApp on Android now features an 'Invite to Group via Link' button at the top of your contacts list.
The button creates a unique URL that can be shared with friends, either as a message through a third-party app, QR code, or NFC tag.
You can also recall links at any time.
Party time
This update is aimed more at brands than individual users. For example, the increased opportunity for sharing could help companies invite large numbers of users to chat.
With over 1 billion global users, that's a lot of potential conversations, and conversions.
