They say the more things change, the more they stay the same.
The adage could apply to the recent report that named Apple and Google respectively the most powerful brands on the planet – again.
Twin Giants
The Interbrand Best Global Brands 2015 Report has named Apple the most valuable global brand for the third year running. Google has come second for the third consecutive year.
Tech companies dominate the top five, with Microsoft and IBM all making their fifth consecutive appearance on the list.
Coca Cola was the only non-tech brand to crack the top five, coming in at number three.
Big spenders
Tech companies account for 28 of the 100 listed brands, the largest of any sector. Other tech giants to be featured include Samsung (#7), Amazon (#10) and eBay (#32).
PayPal and Lenovo also made the list for the first time, placed at #97 and #100 respectively.
Social strides
Facebook made big strides, rising from #29 to #23. The rise marks a 54% rise in the social network’s value.
Interbrand rated a brand’s value based on three broad factors: financial performance, customer influence and competitiveness.
