While there are plenty of Twitter apps out there, few are as aesthetically pleasing and practical as Tweetbot 2.

Tweetbot has been around for some time, but its new app for Mac is compatible with most of Twitter's latest features – some of which aren't yet supported by Twitter's native app.

This means you can keep your Twitter account active by uploading rich media including video, multiple images and animated GIFs. Tweetbot 2 also lets your share your location.

Plus there's all the regular features you'd expect including multiple column views, scheduling and muting options.

Smooth operator

Aside from all the bells and whistles, Tweetbot 2 has been designed for Mac and looks a treat.

Smooth functionality extends to synching across your devices, while the app also supports third-party services including bit.ly, CloudApp, and Instapaper.

At $12.99 it's not the cheapest Twitter client on the market, but it is one of the best for Mac.
