In an important update for brands and users, Twitter has updated its privacy policy and terms of service for all non-US accounts.

Twitter announced the news in a blog post.
"If you live outside the United States, our services are now provided to you by Twitter International Company, our company based in Dublin, Ireland.
"Twitter International Company will be responsible for handling your account information under Irish privacy and data protection law, which is based on the European Union’s Data Protection Directive," Twitter wrote.
Changes
Twitter says the changes make its privacy policy more transparent. For example, users can now sign up for Twitter using a pseudonym, and use their phone number as a contact point.
The update also outlines how users' information can be used on the platform, and covers Twitter services including Digits and Periscope.
Take-aways
With over three quarters of Twitter users now residing outside the US, the changes will impact hundred of millions of account holders, including those in Australia and New Zealand.
