YouTube has just released cards, a new update aimed at increasing video interaction.
House of Cards
YouTube cards was first announced on the platform's Creator blog.
"You can think of cards like an evolution of annotations. They can inform your viewers about other videos, merch, playlists, websites and more.
"They look as beautiful as your videos, are available anytime during the video and yes, they finally work on mobile," YouTube Product Manger Muli Salem wrote.

Cards are hot property on social at the moment, and are essentially a way to add additional pieces of information to content.
YouTube creators can choose from six card types including Merchandise, Fundraising, Video, Playlist, Associated Website and Fan Funding.
These can be used in a variety of ways. For example, creators might include a call-to-action on their video that's more engaging that the current annotations used.
Or using the Merchandise card, creators can include links to their website or e-retail shop.
Whatever way marketers want to use cards, it's clear YouTube is serious about upping its ante for brands. Especially since Facebook started allowing users to embed their Facebook videos on their website or blog.
