Pinterest has begun rolling out a new, cleaner design and discovery features.
Big picture
Pinterest has been trialling the new design over the past three months and is now making the update available to all users.
The changes are more tweaks than a radical redesign: the space between pins has been minimised, meaning more pins and larger images are now possible.
Discovery
Discovery has also been improved. When users view an image or video, pinned images from the same board now appear on the same screen.
Users can also now discover people with similar interests via the “people who pinned this also pinned” feature.
Adding up
Pinterest is one of the fastest growing social networks and currently has over 48 million global users.
The platform has gradually been tinkering with its advertising offering and recently launched Business Pages for brands.
While the new design doesn't include any new features for brands, the discoverability feature could potentially be used for advertising in the future.
