Twitter has launched a new series called Twitter Stories, a website that looks at the impact a single tweet can have. The site follows the various ways people have used the social networking service to enhance their personal and professional lives.

One story documents how Aaron Durand saved his parent’s bookstore, Broadway Books. The store was suffering a downtown during the GFC and Durand blogged that with his last $1000, he would “buy a burrito” for anyone who spent more than $50 in his parent’s store. He posted a link to his blog on twitter which then went viral and resulted in the store posting record profits.
Other stories show how Japanese fishermen tweet about their catch of the day and sell their haul before returning to port, and how a cyclist successfully challenged Lance Armstrong to a bike ride for charity.
Twitter wants your story
Twitter wants users to share how they have used tweets in an interesting way. Stories can be submitted using @twitterstories or using the hashtag #twitterstories.
Each month Twitter will curate a selection of profiles to share via the Twitter Stories website.
