G Suite updates Access Control

Here’s a handy update for G Suite Admins: it’s now easier to share files through Gmail, Calendar, and associated apps.

Check it out

When sending an email, calendar invite, or other correspondence that includes a Drive file, the “Access checker” feature lets you see if recipients have permission to view the file.

If the answer is no, Admins can change their permissions.

Double Check

Access checker has been updated to support more file types in Drive, and can even anticipate who’ll need access to a file, and default sharing to these users exclusively. These can be overridden if Google’s AI gets it wrong occasionally.

Google says the updates come in response to user feedback, and intended to make sharing content with the right recipients speedier and more secure.
