Go Live simplifies YouTube for webcams

Two clicks and you're livestreaming, with YouTube’s new Go Live feature.

Where to click

Using YouTube via Chrome on desktop, the ‘create video or post’ button—a camera icon with a plus symbol on it, right of the search bar—opens a menu that lets you either ‘upload a video’, or ‘Go Live’.

Obviously, the latter is your livestream shortcut.

If your webcam’s raring and you’re logged in to administer you YouTube channel, it really is that simple.

Well reputed, verified streamers

Eligibility for ‘Go live’ requires that ‘your account is in good standing’, and your identity has been verified by a phone number.

Folks with their own channel may have gone through these steps already. They’ll be able to ‘Go Live’ instantly at this link.

Those who are new to channels will be led through quick set one the first time they try ‘Go Live’. After that, it’s all aces.

What OS?

Currently, the simplified livestream process is only available via desktop YouTube with a webcam. It’ll come to Android devices soon—using built in hardware.

If there are plans to take it to iOS, they’ve not been mentioned.
