For better or worse, Facebook's News Feed is about to get crowded with a new form of content. GIFs are finally coming to Facebook.
Get GIFing
GIFs, the short form looping video format, can now be posted on the News Feed on the web and mobile.
For the moment GiFs can only be links, not uploads. Links must be pasted into the Status Update screen that will generate a preview.
At the time of writing GIF support was only available for personal, not brand Pages.
Long time, no GIF
Facebook originally offered GIF support, but that was over a decade ago. Now GIFs are incredibly popular these days and virtually every social network supports them.
So Facebook has rejoined the party. And the News Feed may never be the same.
