LinkedIn's relentless quest for user engagement continues with a prominent new placement of the Sponsored Jobs category.
Home time
From today Sponsored Jobs, which allows employers to target users, will appear in the main feed of the user's homepage.
Previously, Sponsored Jobs were contained to the “Jobs You May Be Interested In” section and email blasts.
The new placement of Sponsored Stories beefs up the homepage, which is the place where updates, posts and recommended articles live.
Stay on target
Giving Sponsored Jobs listings a more plum positioning might help LinkedIn in two ways. First, more clicks on the listings will increase the value of Sponsored Jobs, which employers must pay for.
Secondly, more clicks means more engagement, which is music to the ears of is online advertising execs.
And of course the update might also compel job seekers to spend more time on LinkedIn as rival platforms like Facebook dip their toes in the job seeker market.
Sponsored Listings is now rolling out on Linkedin.com and associated iOS and Android apps.
