Slack beefs up Status options

Slack has released an update that gives you more slack when setting your status for team members.

You can now either pick from a template or create your own custom status for when you're away from Slack.

There are five default options, including Working Remotely, Out Sick, In a Meeting, Commuting, and Vacationing.

Select the appropriate status then include when you'll return, whom to contact in your absence, and any related info for your team.

Bespoke

If none of the templates apply, you can create your own status. Each custom status can be up to 100 characters long, and jazzed up with an emoji of your choosing.

Your colleagues will see an emoji beside your name in the sidebar, and hovering over the emoji will display your full status details.

Status updates can be posted from the browser, desktop, and mobile versions of Slack.
