Tumblr is trialling a new button feature that aims to increase conversations and conversions on the platform.
Tumblr takings
The buttons appear on the top right hand side of a post, and encourage users to Buy, Browse, Pledge, or Do Something.
Once the button is pressed users are taken directly to the featured brand's website to complete their action. They can also set reminders to take actions at a later date.
For the time being the buttons are only available on desktop, and compatible with links from four pilot partners including Etsy and Kickstarter.

The buttons might give Tumblr a new revenue stream beyond advertising.
If successful expect to see the buttons extended to larger brands, potentially taking a slice of the online retail space.
