In an effort to tame the timeline, Twitter will soon allow users the option to view feeds in either ranked or chronological order.
Feeds with flexibility
Twitter's latest attempt is the “Show the best tweets first” option.
Clicking this feature will revert timelines to a non-algorithmic mode, and a reverse-chronological order.
A return to form
While the stripped back timeline might seem quaint, Twitter originally launched with such a format, changing to algorithmic models back in 2016.
Twitter is playing with more customisation to feeds so breaking news can still penetrate, but smarter algorithms will keep more relevancy in the stream. We think it's good for users and brands.
