Fashion forecasting giant WGSN has teamed with Vogue to present Vogue’s incredible archive alongside WGSN’s fashion insights.
Vogue Archive is an excellent example of traditional publishers utilising valuable archive materials.
1892 to now
Every page of every issue of Vogue magazine from 1892 to now has been scanned and is searchable by names of models and editors, trends and more.
Vogue Archive + WGSN
Paired with WGSN’s intelligence, searches return pages from Vogue, including advertising and editorial, together with a trend graph. For example, a search for ‘leopard print’ delivers a graph of years from 1892 to present with spikes when leopard print was most popular. Click on a decade, and a detailed graph for that time frame is displayed.
Marketing
Aside from the obvious audience of editors and fashion designers, the possibilities for marketers and creative designers are substantial
Voguepedia
For those who aren’t subscribed to WGSN, Voguepedia is a free information offering. It can be searched via a search bar or by selecting from catorgorised menus: beauty brands, fashion brands, designers, editors, models, personalities, photographers and turning points.
An opportunity for traditional publishers
As traditional publishing houses hold rich archives of information, often dating back decades, there are significant opportunities for them to use these resources. Partnerships like Vogue Archive and WGSN, E-books and more are sure to become more prevalent, together with other innovative presentations of valuable data.
