We all know YouTube is big. Very very big.
But according to new data from Google, the video platform has never been more popular with mobile viewers.
Square eyes
At its recent earnings call Google's Chief Business Office Omid Kordestani announced that YouTube homepage visits have tripled year-on-year.
Significantly, users are also spending more time on YouTube. Viewing time up 60% year-on-year, which marks the fastest rise in over two years.
That makes YouTube bigger than any cable TV network in the US with the 18 – 49 year old demographic.
Mobile movies
On mobile, the average session is now over 40 minutes, which is a 50% rise from last year. Google says users are watching more back-to-back videos than ever before.
With competition for video advertising from Facebook heating up, these figures show YouTube is more than ready for the challenge.
