Snapchat’s first run of serial content is to be an eight-party weekly series reuniting past partners for the first time since the split.
Old flames reunite
The collaborative effort between Snapchat and the A+E Network will be following the first-time encounters between past loves as they finally discuss what lead to their demise and whether or not there is…hope?
The new partnership between these two media consortiums isn’t the only budding relationship. NBC and Disney-ABC will also be working with Snapchat of bringing original content to mobile devices.
Mobile story telling becomes popular consumption
Snapchat and its many bedfellows aren’t the only ones taking advantage of app focused digital narratives. BBC Worldwide, E! News, The New York Times, and Turner have all confirmed in distributing mobile formats of existing catalogues along with the release of original content.
The popularity of unscripted reality television married to a mobile device seems a natural progression. With media conglomerates recognizing the untapped potential of mobile narratives, a direct to viewer service could begin to shape.
Magic moments
If television and news outlets successfully capitalize on what is fast becoming a competitive medium, the film industry may be quick to follow.
The adoption of mobile story telling could see a push for all forms of entertainment to get a lot more portable.
