YouTube has released a new way for content creators and influencers to disclose paid promotions.
Coming clean
The optional feature adds text at the start of a video, informing viewers they are watching a paid promotion.
The disclosure text can also be added to existing videos, without affecting video view counts or other metrics.
Transparent
While disclosure laws vary by region, the update could keep influencers and brands out of potential hot water.
YouTube currently has a check box for all uploads asking if the video contains paid promotion. This could make disclosure more transparent.
