Since its revival in recent years the almighty GIF has not lost any momentum.
With Twitter's latest update, it might just continue to build on its success.
Express yourself
Native GIFs were first introduced to Twitter in June 2014, where previously GIFs only made appearances through the likes of Twitpic and Imgur links.
There were limitations, however, with the maximum size being 3MB to begin with and eventually raised to 5MB.
Moving on up
As of now, users can upload GIFs up to 15MB – but only on Twitter.com.
It remains to be seen when Twitter app or TweetDeck users will have access to the larger upload limit.
Third-party apps are unlikely to receive it any time soon, first requiring Twitter to update its APIs.
