They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. They also say Facebook's appetite to be all things to everyone is insatiable.
Now it looks like Facebook is working on its own Snapchat-style app.
Oh, Snap
According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Facebook is currently developing an app intended to help users create and share photo and video content.
Unnamed sources close to Facebook say the app will launch via a smartphone camera, and integrate existing photo rolls from other Facebook properties including Instagram and Messenger.
Live video streaming and 360 degree video standalone apps are also in the works.
Clone wars
This isn't the first time Facebook has tried to recreate some Snapchat magic.
In the past Facebook has launched products including Facebook Camera, Slingshot, Poke, and Bolt. There's a reason you probably haven't heard of most of them.
However Facebook's pockets are deep. Stay tuned to see what they've got cooking for mobile users in 2016.
