Pinterest gets cooking with new Rich Pins update

How long does it usually take to decide what's for dinner? You're hungry and your kitchen is full, but nothing comes to mind.

You'll still have a choice to make, but Pinterest's new Rich Pins update will speed up the process from idea to 'I'm full'.

What's the next step?

Recipe Pins and Movie Pins have had their functionality boosted to include more information directly on the pins, matching the likes of Article Pins and Place Pins.

Users can now find ingredients, cooking times and more without needing to click and click again as Recipe Pins heat up.

And since we all love catching dinner and a flick, Movie Pins can now show cast members, ratings, and reviews to help users find the best film to watch.

Lock them in

Pinterest expects the update to double the number of Recipe Pins to around 4 billion, while Movie Pins already number 33 million.

The company already sees a large majority of food-related Pins saved through their mobile and tablet apps, and the data-rich Pins will keep users browsing around the app and website longer.
