There's nothing wrong but a bit of good-natured ribbing. But in these social times even the slightest slip-up can result in virtual red faces all round.
Which brings us to the unfortunate case of the LG tweet.
Bendgate
When the iPhone 6 Plus launched last year it was beset with rumours that it was susceptible to bending. After a raft of stories the accusations were eventually labeled Bendgate.
Some bright spark decided to chime in with the following tweet from the official LG France Twitter account:
“Our smartphones don’t bend, they are naturally curved ;)”.
The tweet featured an image of the LG G Flex, which is indeed curved.
Stop the press
The only problem was, the tweet was sent from a iPhone.
While the offending tweet didn't result in any significant damage to LG (or put a dent in iPhone 6 Plus sales), it's another reminder that brands much remain vigilant when bending the rules on social etiquette.
Stay tuned for any social missteps arising from Apple's new releases.
