Facebook Notes might not be the most recognisable feature on the social network, but a refresh means you might be hearing a lot more about Notes.
Note to self
Notes is a somewhat hidden feature that lets users add more in-depth information about themselves, similar to a journal or blog.
The feature is a throwback to a more innocent time when Facebook imposed character restrictions on what users could post.
Now Notes is being revived from the dead, back to battle for bloggers.
#Notable exceptions
A new-look Notes is being trialled with a select group of users, and it looks a lot like popular blogging platform Medium, complete with large hero photos, clearer font and space for bylines.
You can tag other users in photos, while Notes can be shared publicly or with a select group of friends.
Blog all about it
While Notes version II remains a trial at this stage, if successful it could help Facebook lure back some of its flagging teen audience – who tend to be big fans of blogging.
And if Notes gets regular users to spend more time on the platform, that might help Facebook grab more demographic data.
