A new report reveals that social media is now the prime driver of referral traffic.

The report from Shareaholic found that in the fourth quarter of 2014 social media accounted for 31.24% of referral traffic, up from 22.74% for the same period in 2013.
According to Shareaholic's data this places social ahead of SEO,
Breakdown
It should surprise no-one that Facebook continues to lead the social pack, accounting for almost 60% of referral traffic.
Perhaps more surprising is the revelation that Pinterest was the only other platform to experience an increase in referral traffic year-on-year, with a 5.82% boost.
Downward swing
On the other side of the tracks, Twitter's traffic fell by 27.03% and StumbleUpon by 42.17%.
But perhaps most telling is that YouTube's referrals dropped a massive 93.24%.
LinkedIn, Reddit and Google+ remained relatively constant through the period.
