While Twitter is now the go-to source for breaking news, finding relevant content amid the avalanche of tweets can be a challenge.
A new update from Twitter aims to address this.
Related headlines
The feature, dubbed “related headlines”, works by adding relevant news headlines to the bottom of a tweet.
For example, if a user clicks on a tweet mentioning the 2013 Australian Federal Election, they will now see a list and links to related articles.
Related headlines will make it easier for users to discover stories that provide more context, Twitter explained in a blog post.
Story time
Related headlines won't apply to all tweets, only popular tweets or those that are relevant and embedded in a post.
Aside from giving users more tweeting time, related headlines will provide a boost for news organisations and brands that publish custom content.
