According to application discovery company Appfire, Apple has now approved over 1 million iOS apps since 2008.
1 million and counting
A report from The Next Web covering the announcement found that of the 1 million apps that have been submitted to the App Store, 493,289 were paid and 158,848 were games.
The App Store currently has 700,000 titles available, with Appfire attributing this discrepancy to apps being removed by either Apple or developers.
Some 45 per cent (336,000) of apps currently available on the App store are paid. These figures include iOS apps only for mobile devices, not Mac App Store apps.
A lot of Angry Birds
While Apple doesn't often release official figures, at the recent iPhone 5 launch Apple CEO advised that the average customer now users over 100 apps.
Mobile a go-go
These figures show what a major revenue stream apps have become for Apple. with the App Store registering 35 billion downloads in four years.
With more users accessing the mobile web, the number of apps is sure to continue. Which means, you guessed it, more Star Wars Angry Birds.
