Kellogg’s opens world’s first Tweet shop

Kellogg's has opened a pop up shop in SoHo, London where the currency is tweets, rather than stirling.

Will tweet for food

The store was created by U.K. agency Slice and stocks Kellogg's new range of Special K Cracker Crisps, which customers can sample for free.

However, if customers want to take a packet home they will have to tweet using the hashtag #tweetshop.

Food for thought

Tweets using the hashtag include “My first tweet and it's from #tweetshop! Brilliant! And free crisps as well!” from ‏@Leadyla1982 and “Afternoon treat! Thanks Special K! #tweetshop” from @aprilrobinson10.

Users are also posting pictures of the pop up shop and Special K Cracker Crisps with their tweets.

Social currency

While brands have long offered discounts for customers who 'check in' at a retail space, Kellogg's pop up store is the first time a company has operated a space that deals directly in 'social currency'.

Where this sits legally remains unclear, though if the campaign is successful it may not be long before we see more Twitter stores popping up.

Perhaps a local version could stock Vegemite?
