Facebook has unveiled the first range of Open Graph applications custom designed to live in the Timeline.
Look, see, share
Facebook released Open Graph last year as a platform that allows developers to create apps that are integration with third-party websites. This can include the ability to 'like' or 'share' an article or link on Facebook. For example, when a user reads an article on The Washington Post that information appears in their news feed, with a link to the article.
Until now Open Graph apps have been limited to a select few brands including Spotify and Foursquare.
Now Facebook is opening up Open Graph to everyone, with the first 60 apps now live, and more on the way.
Good news for brands
When Facebook launched Timeline late last year did not include provision for brands, as it gave time for users to get acquainted with the new layout.
The announcement of the new Open Graph apps signals brands are now invited to the Timeline party.
